Sometimes it’s the saddest and most unbearable things that happen in the world that force you to be grateful for the life you have and to stop and look at what’s important.
Brittany Maynard was 29 when she was diagnosed with a terminal brain tumor and was given only 6 months to live. During this time she became an advocate for the “Compassion and choices” group who advocate for people who wish to end their own lives due to terminal illness. She decided to end her life on the 1st November by taking a prescribed drug from her doctor that would allow her to end her life peacefully in her own room surrounded by family.
Whether you agree with her choice or not is not the issue. There is so much for us to learn from people like Brittany about how to be grateful for the lives we have been given and how to use what time we have to the best of our abilities.
Here is an inspirational video from Brittany explaining her choice and sharing how she made every moment count sharing time with the people she loved doing the things she always wanted to do.
