Currently 10000 people in the UK have Cystic Fibrosis which has been thought incurable and on average suffers die by the age of 36 years old. Stuart Gordon was one such sufferer who died at just 23 years old. His parents have since set up the Stuart Gordon Fund which is a Local Scottish Charity formed to assist families affected by Cystic Fibrosis and other chronic ailments. They have been supporting Dr Anil Mehta’s research for many years and now all donations to their charity between now and Christmas are going to be donated to Anil Mehta’s research.

Dr Anhil Mehta

The researchers at a facility in Dundee have been using cells from the nasal passage to repair the cells that cause cystic fibrosis. Italian researchers have found a drug that clears the debris from the lungs cells and Dr Mehta has found a drug that restores function to these same cells.

The Combination of these two drugs has been found to REVERSE THE INFLAMMATION THAT DESTROYS THE LUNGS IN CF SUFFERERS.

Although currently only 10 humans have been tested on 9/10 of those tested had their lungs restored to nearly normal function. The important thing to remember is:

Dr Mehta is waiting to do a trial on 120 humans with CF but needs funding of 1.3 million £s.

So if you have any spare money, if you know of anyone with CF, if you have a family member, friend, neighbour who has been touched by this condition please please please donate to Dr Anil’s Research thousands of lives could be saved.

    1. I know! It’s brilliant, I can’t quite believe it! Trying not to get too excited but even knowing there is a possibility of a cure brings such hope!
